A capacitação de professores em Educação a Distância (EAD), na busca pelo enriquecimento do ensino presencial, deve ser vista, hoje, como uma forma de se preparar o corpo docente para o ensino totalmente virtual. O presente trabalho apresenta uma iniciativa institucional de fomento à inovação pedagógica iniciada pela capacitação docente. Como objetivo geral, buscou-se apoiar e dar suporte às iniciativas de EAD da instituição, para promover a interatividade e a interação entre as comunidades interna e externa. Entre os objetivos específicos, buscou-se integrar a comunidade acadêmica através de ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem e do compartilhamento de informações e conhecimentos, além de desenvolver cursos de capacitação, extensão, graduação e pós-graduação na modalidade EAD. Em paralelo, buscou-se criar e desenvolver Comunidades Virtuais de Aprendizagem e promover estudos, debates e pesquisas sobre temas relacionados a EAD.

Capacitating the teaching staff in Distance Learning in the search for the enrichment of presencial teaching can be seen as a way of preparing this staff to something even more daring: an entirely virtual teaching process. This paper portrays an institutional initiative to foment pedagogical innovation through capacitating the teaching staff. As main objective, this work tried to support the institutional Distance Learning initiatives, promoting the interactivity and integration of the internal and external communities. Among the specific objectives the integration of the academic community was sought through virtual learning environments and information and knowledge sharing. The development of Distance Learning courses such as: qualification, extension, undergraduation and graduation programs was made. The creation and development of Virtual Learning Communities were sought and the promotion of studies, debates and researches about themes related to Distance learning were encouraged.
